The Bayou Breakfast Club’s mission is to provide young professionals in Houston with the opportunity to expand their professional networks and keep abreast of the business, social, and political environment within Houston and the State of Texas.

As part of its mission, each month we invite an individual who has achieved success in one or more of these arenas to address the BBC and give its members the opportunity to ask questions to gain insight into the particular topic that has been discussed.

History of The Bayou Breakfast Club

The Bayou Breakfast Club (BBC) was founded in 2006 by 7 individuals who saw the value in bringing together a group of motivated young professionals who sought to further their knowledge of various social, economic and business topics through quality guest speakers and accomplished peers. With this in mind, the founders initially invited 40 other Houstonians from various professional backgrounds including, but not limited to, finance, energy, real estate and entrepreneurship to join the BBC.

On June 13, 2006, The BBC held its first meeting at the Briar Club. John Young, Senior Vice President at UBS and Founder of the River Oaks Breakfast Club was the inaugural speaker. The 7 founders began to grow the membership ranks, schedule quality speakers and arranging to break up the various responsibilities into officer positions. In its second year the BBC had 66 members and held its one year anniversary on June 12, 2007 with Mayor Bill White acting as the guest speaker. With membership capped at 85 people, it has focused on attracting quality members over the long term. The BBC continues to hold its members to the highest standards, while attracting quality speakers and increasing social opportunities for the membership to utilize.
